I am so so sorry to learn of Edith's passing! I knew Edith all of my life! It's very hard to imagine her no longer here - what I do personally know about her - she did not have an easy life - she went through more downs than ups - she always amazed me about how well she dealt with the stress in her daily life - and it was in abundance - more than she deserved! Most of her life was lived for Sydney! She loved him more than anyone - and there was nothing - and I mean nothing - that she wouldn't do for him! If Sydney hadn't lived with her - she never would have made it as long as she did! He gave her reason and the willingness to get up each day and go on - and Edith gave Sydney purpose too - without her, I can not even imagine how Sydney will survive without Edith - even though he is up in years himself - she still mothered him as if he were still a small child - they both needed this - and I feel nothing but admiration when I think about how they relied on each other! I do believe Sydney would have been gone long ago if it hadn't been for the close relationship with his mother - not many men could do what he did - giving up opportunity after opportunity to live alone with the woman he loved and his child - but I witnessed Sydney do this for many many years - even though Edith would have continued to help anyway possible - he refused the chance to have that life - and I am sure it wasn't an easy decision - even though Sydney has had many difficulties throughout life - one thing is for sure - HE LOVED HIS MOTHER! My heart, thoughts and prayers are sent to the family - and especially to Sydney - because he is going to need family and friends now more than ever! My heart breaks for him! Sandra Williams
