Rev. Bennie Blankenship
Of Kistler, WV
Rev. Bennie Blankenship, 53, of Kistler went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2010, surrounded by family and friends at his residence.
He was born October 26, 1956, the son of the late Lonnie Blankenship. Also preceding him in death was his beloved daughter, Beverly Sue Blankenship; and his parents-in-law, Eugene and Lillian Adkins.
Bennie was a coal miner for 34 years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and preaching the Word of God. He announced his calling to preach on June 9, 2002 and began by preaching his first sermon on June 16, 2002. Bennie became the pastor of the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist on April 20, 2005. He loved his church and all those who entered.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Debbie Adkins Blankenship; one daughter, Sara Beth Blankenship (Brent Manning) of Danville; his mother, Naomi Walls Blankenship; one sister, Sally (Ronnie) Egnor of South Point, OH; two brothers, Jim (Yolanda) Blankenship of Low Gap and Greg (Karen) Blankenship of Bruno; special aunt, Rose Blankenship of Bruno; of special mention are his sisters-in-law, Pete Harvey of Verner and Susie Cook of Man; a special niece, Samantha Lawson of Hunt; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man with Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-11 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church.
