Gladys Irene Cook
of Lorado, WV
Gladys Irene Cook, 85, of Lorado, joined her husband in their Heavenly Home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a long illness.
She was born on October 19, 1930, at Buffalo Creek, a daughter of the late Bedford Ellis and Zelma Wells Chapman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Larry "Sam" Cook; four sisters, Imogene Hensley, Shelly "Dig" Kinser, Esther Chapman, and Ruby "Boots" Hicks; and three brothers, Robert "Bob", Tommy, and Donnie Chapman.
Gladys was a home maker, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. A Christian for many years, she enjoyed serving the Lord, listening to gospel music, and watching church services on television. When she was able, she loved to garden, attend local church services, and play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are four children, Sherry and Bobby Lewis of Amherstdale, Tunie Linville and Jamie Myers of Braeholm, Larry and Ann Cook of Davin, and Renee and Tom Donnelly of Amherstdale; two sisters, Toby Bailey and Barbara "Cricket" Chapman, both of Mallory; nine grandchildren, Strikie and Shannon Lewis, Leigh-Ann Lewis and Demmie Workman, Barbie and Nathan Parsons, Shannon Hensley, Kasey Linville and Kevin Spaulding, Timothy Cook, Ashley Cook, Tiffany Donnelly and Machista Cooper, and Tommy "Bub" Donnelly; 14 great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Larry and Judy Lusk along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Cook and Rev. Earl Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
Pall bearers will be Tommy Donnelly, Timothy Cook, Machista Cooper, Tom Donnelly, Demmie Workman, and Strikie Lewis.
