Obituary of Robert Wesley Messer

Robert Wesley “Wes” Messer of Accoville, WV Robert Wesley “Wes” Messer, 75, of Accoville, departed this life on January 24, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical, after a sudden illness. He was born on September 19, 1947, at Low Ash, the son of the late Aubrey “Hobie” and Viola (Davis) Messer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 55 years, Linda Carol (Farley) Messer, who passed away on November 10, 2022; one son, Johnny “JP” Messer; one sister, Carol Sue (Messer) Workman; and his parents-in-law, Jack and Gladys (Canterbury) Farley. Wes was a 1965 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, he married the love of his life his wife, Linda Carol (Farley) Messer. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 through 1969 where he served most of his time in Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Robinette where he started his career in the coal mines. He worked in the coal mines for 29 years and was a proud member of the UMWA local 5850. After retirement, Wes started his own business, T&J Delivery, which was a successful business until he closed it after the death of his son JP. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Robert “Bobby” (Stacey) Messer of Accoville, Kevin Shane (Amber) Messer of Robinette, and Todd (Stephanie) Messer of Kistler; nine grandchildren, Amy (Jimmy) Kiser and Stacy (Chris) Messer, both of Charleston, Rachel (Corey) Toler and Derek (Samantha) Messer, both of Accoville, Reese(Drew Adkins) Messer and Tate Messer, both of Man, Erikka (Dillon) Browning of Proctor Bottom, Jake Messer of Kistler, and Mika (Stephen Codispoti) Maynard of Logan; seven great-grandchildren, Mason Phillip, Archer James, Kyser Jace, Shanlee Jayde, Jagger Knox, Amara Grace, Kendi Nicole; one brother, Aubrey “Peanut” (Debbie) Messer; four brothers-in-law, David (Ilona) Workman of Mt. Lookout, Jody (Avita) Farley of OH, Joby Farley of Oceana, and Bill (Peggy) Farley of Kistler, several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Rev. Michael Pollard officiating. Pall bearers will be Tate Messer, Jacob Messer, Derek Messer, Shane Messer, Todd Messer, Bobby Messer, Nick Messer, and Chris Messer.
