Sandra Irene Necessary, 66, of Santa Fe, originally from Lorado, WV, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
She was born on December 15, 1948, in Christiansburg, VA, the first child of the late Pierce and Gladie Adkins Necessary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Brooks and Emma Lusk Adkins and John and Ada Compton Necessary; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
After 43 years of working for the federal government in Washington DC and Santa Fe, Sandy retired in 2013 from the U.S. Department of Commerce where she last served as Director of the U. S. Export Assistance Center in Santa Fe. Up until her passing, she continued as an international trade consultant. Sandy was an avid skier and bicyclist and enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, and other outdoor activities with her many friends in Santa Fe.
Sandy is survived by one sister, Shirley Necessary of Lorado, WV; two brothers, Calvin and his wife, Charlene, of Robinette, WV and Clark and his wife, Gwen, of Davin, WV; one nephew, Michael Necessary and his wife, Holly, of Lewisburg, WV; and two nieces, Whitney Tignor and her husband, Shawn, of Charleston, WV and Jill Zangari and her husband, Josh, of Morgantown, WV; two great nephews who were the sparkle in her eyes, Pierce Necessary and Aiden Tignor; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in WV and VA.
Sandy was a bright and shining star who brought joy to all of us and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sandy's friends in Santa Fe who have helped us through this trying time including: Deb Harris, Carlie Lines, Linda Hutchison, and Maryanne Reilly.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man, WV where a short funeral service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Earl David Campbell and Brother Kenny Bevins officiating.
Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
