Claude Ray Curry
Of Lundale, WV
Claude Ray Curry, 81, of Lundale, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, leaving from the VA Hospital at Huntington, after a long illness.
He was born July 6, 1933, at Verdunville, the son of the late William and Ellen Spry Curry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, William "Bill" Ray Curry; two brothers, Harrison and Cleve Curry; and four sisters, Marie Ronas, Faye Williamson, Freda Hobeke, and Irma Jean Hampton.
Claude was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a coal miner formerly employed with Amherst Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. Claude was formerly a member and Deacon of Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church. Currently he attended Lundale Freewill Baptist Church when his health allowed. When he was able, he was a 32 degree mason, life member of the DAV, VFW, and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Georgia Jo Sanders Curry; two sons, Claude (Martha) Curry, Jr. of Lorado, Joseph (Amy) Curry of Morristown, TN; two adopted daughters, Ellen Curry (Jason Delory) of Winston-Salem, NC and Jennifer (Christopher) Toler of Lorado. He also had two more children at home, Joseph Dale Curry and Samantha Rae Curry; six grandchildren, Anthony Curry and Devin and Jerimiah Bolden, all of Morristown, TN, Marlynda Arnett of Clarksburg, Montana Adkins of Lorado, and Blake Adkins of Morgantown; and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Perry of Lorado and Gavin Arnett of Clarksburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Johnson and Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be James "Jimmy" Porter, Robert Lowe, Chris Toler, Jason Delory, Blake Adkins, and Matt Lowe.
Honorary pall bearers will be Timothy Hall, Jack Booth, Golf "Fonzo" Jude and Calvin Gibson.
