Carl Edward Browning

Of Amherstdale, WV

   Carl Edward Browning, 79, of Amherstdale, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving from Dignity Hospice House at Chapmanville, on Friday, March 15, 2019, after a short illness.

   He was born on August 7, 1939, at Becco, the son of the late Elbert “Rusty” and Betty Roberts Browning.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie Jeffrey Browning; brother, Robert Browning; sister, Katherine Jude; and his grandson, Jack Kent.

   Carl was a 1957 graduate of Man High School and was a member of the Old Man High School Alumni Association.  After graduation, he became a coal miner.  While working he went through electrician school and became a Certified Electrician.  After 20 years in the coal mines he pursued a career working for the WV Department of Highways retiring in 2004.  After retirement he devoted his time to his family and church.  Carl was a faithful member of the Becco United Baptist Church where he attended for 75 years.  He was a member of the Plaza Lanes Becco Church League where he and his life long friend, Clarence Jude, made many memories.  He was also a member of the Men’s Fellowship and Youth Group where he helped out in anyway he could.  Carl was a friendly person who loved everyone and never met a stranger.  He will long be remembered for his warm hugs and kind nature.

   Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Joyce Phillips Browning; four daughters, Carla Browning Kent of Man, Kelli (Scott) Adkins of Logan, Stephanie (Patrick) Donahue of Danville, and Kellie (Dennis) Maynard of Amherstdale; seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Sam and Ana Adkins, Charlie, Benji, and Bentley Donahue, Lucas Maynard and Noah Maynard and his fiancé, Samantha Short; five special sisters-in-laws, Shirley Peyton, Bonnie Grimmett, Dani Miller, AnnaBelle Cantrell, and Shirley Browning; one brother-in-law, Elmer “Junior” (Lounice) Jeffrey, Jr.; a special niece, Tara (Jason) White; and many other nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   The family would like to thank Chris Tipton, PA-C, Pastor P.J. Tomblin, and the staff of Dignity Hospice for the compassion and support shown to the family during this difficult time.

   A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

   Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services at the church also.

   In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Dignity Hospice, P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV  25508.

   Pallbearers will be family and friends.

   Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
