Obituary of True L. Story

Please share a memory of True to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

True “Jay” Story, 75, of Greenville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2019.

He was born September 1, 1943, at Sebring, Florida, a son of the late True and Lula Story.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Tommy, sister Elisa Mae Pollard, grandsonLiam Story, and his precious Yorkie, Bella.

Jay was a graduate of Moore Haven High School, where he served as president of the 4-H club and Future Farmers of America.  He loved his country and served honorably in the U.S. Navy.  He spent the early part of his life in the Brooksville, Florida area, where he met the love of his life, Jean, working on a poultry farm.   It is through Jean that he would fall in love with the beauty of West Virginia.

A father, husband, and grandfather, Jay’s love for his family was unmatched.  He was humble, kind, and just an overall genuine person.  He never met a stranger and his smile was contagious.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting with his brothers-in-law, and fishing with Buddy and Jamie.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Addie “Jean” of 33 years; three daughters, Tammy (Joe) Anderson of Southgate, KY, Nancy (Terry) Browning of Greenville, WV,  Rebecca (Aaron) Toler of Bridgeport, WV; five sons, John Story of Houston, TX, Jack Crawford, Sean and Brad Story, all of Greenville, and Chad Story of Charleston, WV; eight grand-children, Charmaine Story, Amber Story, Justin Anderson, Minday Browning, Haley (Garrin) Blankenship, Shane Browning and his fiancé  Rachael ,Kara Crawford , and Ashton Toler; and six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Danicka, Abel, Dixie, Delaney, Kingston, Kai, and Chaelstin; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle and one hour prior to services at the church also.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Eddie Isom and Brother Cecil Bartram officiating.  Jay will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, where military honors will be conducted.

The family would like to thank the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 308 of Henlawson for their years of support and dedication to his care.
