Mary Jo Hoosier, 83, of Crown, departed this life on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the home of her grand- daughter, Vickie Martin at
She was born July 7, 1935, in
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Hoosier, Sr.; two sons, Billy Ray Hoosier, Jr. and Terry Hoosier; son-in-law, Pete Bailey who she thought of as her son; and a special friend, Greg Dixon with whom she made her home for three years.
Mary Jo worked for Logan Manufacturing and was of the Pentecostal faith. When she was able she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and making holidays special with her holiday dinners. Her greatest role in life was being a mother and grandmother. She filled the needs of her family without being asked and loved them all unconditionally.
Those left cherish her memory are one daughter, Vickie Bailey of Omar; one son, Teddy Hoosier; her grandchildren who she adopted, Casey (Ashley Hopkins) Hoosier of Crown and Vickie (Burnell) Martin of South Charleston; six grandchildren, Billy Gene Hoosier of Lake, Carrie (Billy) Chafin of Rocky Branch, Perry (Brandi) Bailey of Charles Town, Shane (Kelly) Hoosier of Ferrellsburg, Jessica (Rickey Bradley) Bailey, and T.J. Hoosier of Kistler; 19 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jacob Chafin of Rocky Branch, Brandon and Tanner Hoosier, of NC, Grifyn, Jon Stevin, and Zane Hoosier of Farrellsburg, D.J. Moore of NC, Allison and Kylie Bradley of Whitman, Alexa, Layla, and Hayden Hoosier of Crown, Jacob Hopkins of Crown, Kai, Urijah, and Isla Martin of South Charleston, and Gracelyn and Hopelyn Bailey of Charles Town; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
A celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Bishop Michael Hartwell and Rev. Tim Mullins officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Godby.
Pall bearers will be grandsons.
