Rev. Clyde B. Robertson, 92, of went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2018, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Clyde was born on November 26, 1926, at Mallory to Lucian E. and Lilly M. Lyall Robertson (now deceased). He was educated in Logan County Schools. Clyde was drafted into the Army Air Force where he served from 1945 until 1947. In August of 1948 Clyde met the love of his life Phyllis Jeanette Cobb and they were married in May of 1949. He was baptized into Christianity on October 1, 1950. Clyde received the call from God to become a minister and was ordained into Rockcastle Baptist Association of the West Virginia (American Baptist Churches USA) Baptist Convention at Lacoma Baptist Church on November 17, 1963. Rev. Robertson pastored churches in Logan-Mingo, Rockcastle and Raleigh County Associations. In 1970, he completed a four-year program at Fruitland, NC Baptist Bible Institute where he graduated top of his class. From 1996 until the present, Rev. Clyde Robertson served as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Man.
He fathered three children, Linda Isner of Valley Bend, Rev. Kevin Scott Robertson of Middletown, OH, and the late Kevin Mark Robertson. Clyde was the brother of the late Ruth Paynter, the late William “Bill” Robertson, Betty Morgan of Davin, the late Dareld Robertson, the late Vaughn Edward Robertson, Lewis Mack Robertson of Davin, the late James Donald Robertson, the late Glen Robertson, Jack (Joyce) Robertson of Davin, and David Lee (Darlene) Robertson of Smith Mtn., VA.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church at Man and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Services for Rev. Robertson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Max Hill (Retired Associate Executive Minister of the WV Baptist Convention) officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery at Cyclone where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
Pall bearers will be Bobby Hilling, Rev. Roland Cook, David Cochran, Jim Blunt, Eddie Harrison, and David Robertson.
