Hobert Daniel Depta

Of Earling, WV

   Hobert Daniel Depta, 86, of Earling, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 17, 2018, leaving this world surrounded by his loving family.

  He was born March 8, 1932, at Accoville, a son of the late John and Mary Alekse Depta.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Violet Dean Counts Depta; four brothers, Steve, John Jr., Joe, and Bill Depta; and three sisters, Hazel Browning, Agnes Grimmett, and Elizabeth Browning.

   Hobert was a faithful member of the Taplin Freewill Baptist Church for 37 years.  He loved God, reading the Bible and hearing the word.  A veteran of the the U.S. Army, Hobert loved his country and served in the Korean War. He cherished God’s creation and spending time with his loved ones.  He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, fishing, rabbit hunting, working with his hands, and being outdoors.  A people person, Hobert never met a stranger and made everyone his friend.  He was a wonderful Dad and Papaw who was deeply devoted to his family.

   Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Gary Depta of Kistler; one daughter, Sherry Depta Wooten of Earling; five grandchildren, Michelle Wooten of Earling, David (Keshia) Wooten of Blair, Danielle (Jonathan) Jessie of FL, Alex Depta of TX, and Andrea Depta of Kistler; three great-grand-daughters; his faithful canine companion, Baby Violet; and a special friend, Jackie (Polly) Walls; along with a host other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.

   A celebration of Hobert’s life will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Wiley assisted by Rev. George Leese officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.

   Pall bearers will be family and friends.
