Rev. Paul Rhodes

Of Lorado, WV

   Rev. Paul Joseph Rhodes, 82, of Lorado, went to be his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beautiful wife, Maggie, leaving on September 26, 2018 from Logan Regional Medical Center, after battling a long illness.

   He was born July 9, 1936, at Yolyn, a son of the late Josephus and Effie Partain Rhodes.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maggie Jean Traylor Rhodes who left this world on September 16, 2018.  Those also gathered on the other side are his step-son, Jack B. Daniels, Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Pam Traylor; two brothers, Clifford Rhodes and James Pascal Rhodes; and two sisters, Irene Golice and Elyeen Sias.

   Paul was a 1953 graduate of the Old Logan High School.  He served four years in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.  Paul was a tipple operator who spent his entire career at Pittston Coal Company.  He was also a member of the UMWA District 17.  Rev. Rhodes had been preaching the word of God for over 50 years.  He and his wife, Maggie, helped build two churches under the direction of the Lord.  Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at Cranberry River.  After retirement, he volunteered at Buffalo Grade School, Man Middle School, and Man High School filling in wherever needed.  Devoted to his family, Paul loved spending time with all of them.    2 Timothy Chapter 4: 7 & 8   I have fought   a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

   Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Cody (Kaytlynn) Rhodes of Lorado; two step-sons, Jule Edward “Eddie” Traylor of Man and Dwight “Ike” Traylor of Seneca, SC; one step-daughter, Jackie Lou (Michael) Mounts of Gilbert; one special daughter-in-law, Pam Daniels of Riley Camp; eight grandchildren, Michael and Andrea Mounts, Mark and Peggy Mounts, Crissy and Paul Huggins, Jack and Michelle Daniels, Ike and Jessica Traylor, Tra Traylor, Jackson Traylor, and Tyler Cody Traylor Rhodes II; eight great-grandchildren, Clay Michael Mounts, Marki Brooke Mounts and her fiance, Jay Bare, Jewel Hope Mounts, Layne Daniel Huggins, Kaden Dickerson, Myleigh Jack Daniels, Layla Sue Traylor, and Titus Nathaniel Traylor; and one great-great-grand-daughter, JayLynn Brooke Bare; a special niece, Kathy (Willard) Bourne; along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. 

   A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church at Lundale with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. 

   In honor of Paul’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.

   Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man has been entrusted with the arrangements.
