It is with great sadness that the family of Herbert “Herb” W. Staten, 73, of Robinette announces his peaceful passing at his home on August 1st, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.
Although he was not a member of any church, Herb was baptized in June of 2016 and professed a relationship with Christ. He was a lifelong coal miner and served as chief electrician for most of his career. Herb was a friend to all and loved to joke. Possessing a passion for politics, Herb worked to help his favorite candidates get elected. He enjoyed listening to classic country music and was an avid fan of Larry Bird. His number one priority here on Earth was to see that his wife was taken care of and to help his sons be the successful men they are today.
Herbert was born August 8, 1944, at Robinette. He was the son of the late Roland and Ethel Emily Manley Staten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Joyce Cresong.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Cora Annette Mays Staten; four sons, Herbert Allen (Bonnie) Staten of Kistler, Brian Keith (Linda) Staten of Lake Wales, Florida, Garron Corey (Cecilia) Staten of Robinette, and Tanner Gage Staten of Robinette; his 5 precious grandchildren Cassandra Staten, John Staten, Lorelai Staten, Trinity "Jagger" Staten, and Desi Staten; and two great-grandchildren, Lacey and Audrey.
He also leaves behind his brother, Teddy (Tootsie) Staten of Claypool; sisters, Margaret (Jim) Briles of Amherstdale, Ginny Kay Faith of
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, August 4th at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in
Pallbearers will be his four sons, grandson, John, as well as several nephews with honorable pallbearers Willie Marich, Jerald Slone, Rick Roberts, and James Stepp.
Herb will forever be remembered and greatly missed by his wife, sons, and other special family members as a loving husband, father, uncle, and papaw.
