Walter O. Wooten, 72, of Mallory, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2018, leaving from his residence, after a long illness.
He was born March 11, 1947, at Slagel, a son of the late Homer and Mae Baker Wooten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Mick and Dick Peyton; and one sister, Shirley Mae Eldridge.
Walter was a disabled coal miner who formerly worked for Powellton Coal Company. He was a proud member of the UMWA District 17. Walter was a Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Yvonne “Bonnie” Wooten; two daughters, Maggie (Jody) Puckett of Siloam, NC and Kellie (Daniel) Lester of Mallory; six grandchildren, Daniel Ray “Brusier” Lester, Brian Lester, Amber Puckett (Travis) Bringle, Sara Puckett, Christian Lester, Caleb Lester; three sisters, Ann Ransom, Betty (Glen) Gibson, and Bonnie Bartram; two brothers, Garland Wooten and Hobert Wooten; special friends and singing partners, Alice and Roger Lester and Ralph and Jeanie Christian; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Walter's Life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Lehman Eldridge and Rev. Randy Toler officiating. Burial will follow in
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
