Flora Jean Lafferty

Of Gilman Bottom, WV

Flora Jean Lafferty, 61, of Gilman Bottom, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 15, 2018, leaving from Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born February 16, 1957, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Joe and Dorothy Lacy Gibson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Gibson.

Flora was a loving wife and wonderful mom and Nana.  She was a 1975 graduate of Man High School.  Later she attended SWVCC and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Flora worked at Logan Regional Medical Center for 5 years before joining the Home Health Staff at ARH.  She was a Christian who attended Mallory Church of God when she was able.  Devoted to her family, Flora loved being around her grandchildren and doing things for her entire family.  She enjoyed getting together with her friends from high school to eat, laugh, shop, and laugh some more.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, James Lafferty; two sons, James (Jody) Lafferty, II of Liberty and Joey (Amy) Lafferty of Cross Lanes; two sisters, Naomi (Bob) Ausburn of Tampa, FL and Parthena (Sid) Cook of Mallory; two brothers, Danny (Pam) Gibson and Jimmy (Tammy) Gibson, both of Gilman Bottom; five grandchildren, Joey Brian (J.B.) Lafferty, Abby Lafferty, Chloe Lafferty, Jessica Lafferty, and Kelsey Frazier; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Flora's life will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Mallory Church of God with Rev. Shaun Walker officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mallory Church of God and one hour prior to services at the church also.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Dignity Hospice, P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV  25508.

Online condolences may be sent to www.krantzmcneelyfuneralhome.com

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
