Carol “Sue” Browning

Of Lyburn, WV

Carol Ann “Sue” Browning, 73, of Lyburn, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8, 2018, leaving from the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, after an extended illness.

She was born on December 19, 1944, at Earling, a daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Gearhart Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Sue Browning; five brothers, Bill, Lucian, Ben “Porky”, Freddie Joe, and Jackie Adkins; three sisters, Ramona Trent, Kaye Jeffries, and Stella Roark; and one great-granddaughter, Athena Shea Plymale.

Sue was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She was kind and generous to everyone and was an example of how a true Christian woman should live.  During nights of sleeplessness she would read the Bible at her kitchen table for hours sometimes with a friend.  In addition to teaching Sunday School at Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church for many years, she was an enthusiastic youth group leader who loved crafting with the youth, taking them on fun church trips, and organizing Christmas plays.  Her beautiful singing voice was often heard at church and around her home especially during the family reunions she worked so hard to host.  Sue’s love of flower gardening was evident throughout her yard every year and she took great pleasure when the great-grandchildren picked the flowers for her.  She was a woman of many talents, sewing, painting, drawing, and embroidery to name a few and she shared the fruits of her labor with us all.  An avid photographer she captured countless moments on her camera that we will treasure always along with her infectious laugh and the memory of her famous Thanksgiving dressing that we love so much.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Earl W. Browning; three sons, Larry Earl Browning and his ex-wife, Debbie Browning, both of Lyburn, Ricky Lee (Becky) Browning of South Man, and Scott Andrew (Paige) Browning of Lyburn; one brother, Frank “PeeWee” (Jenny) Adkins of Lyburn; grandchildren, Earl Matthew Browning and his ex-wife, Megan, Stevie (Josh) Plymale, Larry Eugene Browning and his girlfriend, Lauren Tiller, Michael Evans and his friend, Mark Ellis, Kelly Krantz, Meagan Browning, Chanda Browning and her boyfriend, Nathan Griffin, Daniel (Hope) Topping, Megan (Jacob) Townsend, Charity DeBerry and her boyfriend, Jacob Hunter, and Caleb DeBerry and his girlfriend, Erin Garrettson; 11 great-grandchildren, Kambree, Austin, Kelton, Brinlee, Galyxie, Maia, Laina Rose, Serenity, Judah, and Isaac; special friends, Mary Mays, Judy Ryan, Joyce Perry, and Omi Midkiff; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Marvin Wells and Rev. John Mills officiating.  Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery at Buchanan Town, Lyburn.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.
