Garnet Marie Vance
of Crown, WV
Garnet Marie Vance, 83, of Crown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 20, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
She was born August 9, 1934, in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Lee and Thelma Bryant Chapman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Gordon Vance; one daughter, Crystal Marie Vance Johnston; one son-in-law, Bobby Ray Burgess; and many sisters and brothers.
Marie was the Nutrition Director at Pride, Inc. at Logan for over 20 years, retiring in the early 1990s. She was a Christian of the Pentecostal faith. As the matriarch of the family she was an unfailing pillar of strength and wisdom to all who loved her. Her kindness and goodness touched many lives.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sharon Kay (Dallas) Tackett of Accoville and Garnet L. "Sissy" Vance of Crown; one son, Lannie Gordon (Carmen) Vance of Accoville; three brothers, Bill (Rosalie) Chapman of Huntington, John D. (JoAnn) Chapman of Cleveland, OH, and Leroy (Janet) Chapman of Man; one sister, Thelma Davidson of VA; 11 grandchildren, Michael Tackett, Richard (Jolene) Tackett, and Adam Tackett, all of Accoville, Sara Burgess of Morgantown, Brandy (Zack) Tomblin of CT, Bobby Burgess III of WV, Brittany (Mark) Green of Mullins, Kimberly (Brandon) Adkins and Joshua Vance, both of Cyclone, Lesly Vance of Accoville; and Samantha (Derek) Hunter of TN; 21 great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home in Man.
Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pall bearers will be grandchildren.
