Jack Leroy Montgomery
Of Davey Hollow, WV
Lorado, WV – Jack Leroy Montgomery, 78, of Davey Hollow, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at home, after a long illness.
Born January 4, 1936, at Monaville, he was the son of the late Laurene Lafferty of Elizabethtown, IL and the late Paul Montgomery.
Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Thomas Lafferty, James Montgomery, and John Paul Montgomery; and one sister, Donetta "June" McGlone.
Jack, who lived in Logan County all of his life, was in the mining industry for over 40 years; working for several companies. He was also the owner of M & B Construction based in Huntington. Jack was of the Baptist faith. A hard worker, even after retirement, Jack loved the outdoors. While healthy, he loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed working in his garden. Jack took great pride in his family, especially his grandbabies.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Jaddie Davis Montgomery; his step-father, Edward Lafferty of Elizabethtown, IL; his children, Connie (Doug) Lusk of Kistler; Rick (Donna) Montgomery of Robinette, Joey Penix of Paintsville, KY, and Angie Penix (James) Osborne of Willow Springs, NC; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Lusk, Cindy Lusk (Jason) Hawkins, Kaitlyn Osborne, Patrick Osborne, Brittany Penix, Hunter Montgomery, Tanner Montgomery, and Joey LaShae Penix; two great-grandchildren, Kassidy Hawkins and Lacey Lusk; one brother, Edward Ray (Kay) Lafferty of Elizabethtown, IL; four sisters, Sandra K. (David) McCumber of Godconda, IL, Pat (Dan) Lolley of Camden, TN, and Barbara (Terry) Clymer and Debra (Dan) Dermyer, both of Tecumseh, MI; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be Jason Hawkins, Doug Lusk, Matthew Lusk, James Osborne, Patrick Osborne, and Rick Montgomery.
Honorary pall bearers will be Hunter Montgomery and Tanner Montgomery.
