Obituary of Clarence R. Campbell

Rev. Clarence R. Campbell Of Accoville, WV Rev. Clarence R. Campbell, 88, of Accoville, caught his ride on the Glory Train on Friday, January 24, 2014, from his residence, after an extended illness. He was born on July 19, 1925, at Earling, the son of the late Rev. Dave and Binner Hart Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Rev. Campbell has been an ordained Freewill Baptist minister for over 50 years with the Guyan Valley Conference. During those years he pastored at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church and the Crown Freewill Baptist Church. His ministry touched many lives for the Lord through both his church ministry and his radio ministry on WBKW in Beckley and WVOW in Logan. He was a Navy veteran who served during WWII. Rev. Campbell was a coal miner who retired from Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara A. Jeffrey Campbell; eight children, Rev. David (Betty) Campbell, Rev. Dale (Kathryn) Campbell, Debbie (Clarence) Freeman, Robbie (Brenda) Campbell, Kathy (Dale) Morgan, Andrew Campbell, Kim (Scott) Glessner, and Mary (Jeff) Lester; one brother, Jessie (Jan) Campbell of Dearfield, IL; two sisters, Linda Burgess of Accoville and Audrey Depta of CO; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his two best friends, Ozie Burgess and Curtis Harper along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. A celebration of Rev. Campbell's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church at Landville with Rev. Joe Lane and Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
