Obituary of Thelma Ruth Grimmett

Thelma Ruth Grimmett Of Greenvalley, WV Thelma Ruth Grimmett, 81, of Greenvalley, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2013, from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, after a long illness. She was born August 7, 1932, at Lorado, the daughter of the late Rev. Herbert and Fannie Aldridge Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Grimmett; one great-grandson, Alex Bartram; one granddaughter, Heather Fazaan Bartram; one sister, Jean Curry; and two brothers, James and Charles Bailey. Ruth was a retired kitchen aid formerly employed with Man Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was a long standing member of the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memory are five children, Roger (Carol) Grimmett of Romeoville, IL, Brenda "Sue" (Roy) Thacker of Huddy, KY, Diana (Danny) Rice of Big Ugly, Ricky Grimmett of Greenvalley, and Patricia Western of Hiddenite, NC; her special daughter by choice, Linda Waugh of Pinsonfork, KY; her step-mother, Lessie Bailey of Lorado; one sister, Joyce Browning of Greenvalley; one brother, Ronnie (Mary) Bailey of OH; one step-brother, Curtis (Jane) Bailey of Maiden, NC; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Crystal) Grimmett, Wendi Yoder, Matthew (Pam) Keyser, Joseph Keyser, Frances (Scott) Mullins, Jason Bartram and his companion, Laura, Jody Bartram, Amanda Waldrop and her companion, Josh, April Western, Kelli (Shawn) Farley, and Billy Lee Western; 25 great-grandchildren; her canine companion, Polly; and many nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church at Man with Rev. Mike Johnson and Brother Robert Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church and one hour prior to services.
