Obituary of Jesse Pudgie Grimmett
Please share a memory of Jesse to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jesse Delane "Pudgie" Grimmett, Jr., 48, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 28, 1964, at Man, the son of Gerelene Adkins Grimmett of Greenville and the late Jesse Grimmett, Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Lula Grimmett; and his maternal grandparents, John and Norma Adkins.
Pudgie was a 1983 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, he became a truck driver in the coal industry and was currently on the environmental crew at Alpha Natural Resources at Rum Creek. Pudgie loved playing his guitar and pickin' Bluegrass with his family and friends. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer, rabbit, and turkey hunting with his children, Ashlie, Justin, and Bethany, and as he would say "the holler boys" and playing golf with his buddies. Pudgie gave his life to the Lord when he was 13 years old and has been a member of the Hunt Baptist Tabernacle ever since. He was a member of the Logan County Volunteer Fire Department Station 200 where he loved serving his community. A blessing and inspiration to many people, Pudgie was a true friend to all.
Those left to cherish his memory and sadly miss him, are his soul mate, Monica Grimmett; his wonderful children, Ashlie, Bethany, and Justin; his precious granddaughter, Jesslyn Mariah Grimmett whom he loved beyond words; his loving mother, Gerelene Grimmett of Greenville; two brothers, Buddy (Gail) Grimmett and Rocky (Anita) Grimmett, both of Greenville; one sister, Anissa Williamson of Greenville; three nephews, Jon (Kelli) Grimmett of Greenville, and Phillip (LaTonya) Collins, II and Gary (Allison) Collins, both of Lyburn; four nieces, Mandi (Jeremy) Bowens of Davin, Kaylie Meade of Greenville, and Jessie (James) Lee and Kristen (Johnny) Arthur, both of Lyburn; two great-nephews, Carter Bowens and Gary Collins, Jr.; five great-nieces, Abigail Lowe, Cameran Arthur and Peyton Arthur, and Shay Collins and Haleigh Collins; his parents-in-law, Gary and Sandra Isaacs; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tammy and Phillip Collins of Lyburn; and a very special aunt, Glenda Egnor of Chapmanville along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Hunt Baptist Tabernacle at Hunt with Rev. Jon Grimmett, Rev. Scotty Trent, Rev. Richard "P.J." Brown, and Rev. Donald Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
