Obituary of Joseph Burgess

Joseph G. "Joe" Burgess, 72, of Accoville, departed this life Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home, after a long illness.
He was born February 15, 1941, at Whitman, the son of the late Floyd and Pearl Browning Burgess.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Burgess, Jr., Jack Burgess, and Delano Burgess; and two sisters, Elsie Delman and Betty Holbrook.
Joe was a fork lift operator formerly employed with Libby Glass Company at Chicago, IL for 25 years. An avid sports fan, Joe especially loved the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He was very protective of all animals, feeding strays and trying to find them homes. His own dogs, J.B., Katie, and Dolly were his best friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Lou Campbell Burgess of Accoville; one sister, Jean Sorrell of KY; one brother, David Burgess of TN; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family, Rev. Clarence and Barbara Campbell of Accoville, Jess and Jan Campbell of Chicago, IL, Audrey Depta of Madison Creek, Rev. David and Betty Campbell of Accoville, Rob and Brenda Campbell of Charleston, Andrew Campbell of MN, Dale and Kathy Campbell of Landville, Kathy and Dale Morgan of Ashland, KY, Mary and Jeff Lester of Winfield, Kim and Scott Glessnor of Roanoke, VA, and Debbie and Clarence Freeman of Accoville; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank Joe's caregivers, Buddy and Mike Thompson, the staff of Logan Center, Dr. Sells, and Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville and their staff for the kind care and support given to Joe and Linda.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. David Campbell and Rev. Roger Dale Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
