Obituary of Lawrence Lusk

Lawrence Lusk Of Van, WV Lawrence Lusk, 84, of Van, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2013, from CAMC-General Division after a short illness. He was born on September 16, 1928, at Lorado, the son of the late Guy and Addie Osborne Lusk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years who went to be with the Lord in 2004, Maggie "Marie" Osborne Lusk; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Mildred Ann "Millie" Lusk; seven daughters, Janice, Juanita, Brenda, Eva, Iris, Lawrenceana, and Velma; five brothers, Jesse Crouse, Junior Crouse, Robert Lusk, Johnny Lusk, and Roy Lusk; one sister, Virginia "Jenny" Workman; one grandson, Shawn Browning; one great-granddaughter, Channel Bentley. Lawrence was a coal miner for 47 years who retired from Peabody Coal Company's Kopperston # 2 mines. He was a member of the UMWA Local 7604 and was a veteran of the Korean War. A Christian, Lawrence enjoyed gospel music, taking care of those he loved, hunting, and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Larry (Gay) Osborne of Oceana; three daughters, Rosalee (Roger) Green of Greenwood, Elizabeth Lusk of Van, and Lisa (Darren) Peters of Foster; two son-in-laws, Marlyn Lusk of Bim and Barry Vance of Madison; two brothers, Phillip Crouse of Bald Knob and Russell Lusk of Columbus, OH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Greenwood Church of God at Greenwood with Rev. David Osborne and Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Jasper Workman Cemetery at Bald Knob. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Greenwood Church of God. Pall bearers will be Roger Green, Rev. David Osborne, Marlyn Lusk, Danny Richmond, Aaron Vance, and others.
