Benjamin Lewis Adkins
Of Taplin, WV
Benjamin Lewis Adkins, 72, of Taplin, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2014, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.
He was born April 13, 1941, at Taplin, the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Gladys Gearhart Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Adkins and Benjamin "Benji" Adkins, Jr.; three brothers, Bill, Freddie Joe, and Lucian Adkins; three sisters, Stella York, Kay Knipp, and Mona Trent; and several nieces and nephews.
Ben was a retired employee of The Logan Banner. A U. S. Army veteran, Ben served in the Viet Nam War. He enjoyed pitching horse shoes, bowling, and watching sports.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Brian (Melissa Cline) Adkins of Greenvalley and Michael Glen (Tanecia Osborne) Adkins of Cyclone; five grandchildren, Michael Glen Adkins, II of Taplin, Amber (Kevin) Lawrence, Jake Adkins, and Kearstin Adkins, all of Greenvalley, and Michael Lingerfelt of Cyclone; two great-grandchildren, Zackery Adkins and Kevin Bryson Lawrence; one sister, Sue (Earl) Browning of Madison Creek; one brother, Frank "PeeWee" (Jenny) Adkins of Neibert; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Roger Sizemore and Brother Sheldon Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
