Obituary of Gary Freeland Grimmett

Gary Freeland Grimmett Of Verner, WV Gary Freeland Grimmett, 69, of Verner, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at CAMC-General, after a sudden illness. He was born March 12, 1944, at Christian, a son of the late Freeland Adam and Elzora Browning Grimmett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Sue Grimmett; and brother, Donald Lee Grimmett. Gary loved helping others in any way he could. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Shirley Mae Sparks Grimmett; two sons, Gary Kevin (LaVonda) Grimmett of Verner and Grady Homer (Sandra) Grimmett of Leon; four brothers, Louie Glen (Opal) Grimmett, James M. (Earnestine) Grimmett, Rev. Walter H. (Patricia) Grimmett, and Phillip (JoAnn) Grimmett, all of Verner; one sister, Lisa (Greg) Walls, of Verner; three grandchildren, Trista Renee Grimmett of Lawrenceville, GA, Branden Kevin Grimmett of Verner, and Whitney Savannah (Victor) Arreola of Statesville, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Gracie Esperanza Arreola of Statesville, NC; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Verner Community Church at Verner with Rev. Walter H. Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Verner Cemetery at Verner. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the church and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be Branden Grimmett, Victor Arreola, Wade Thomas, Eli Thomas, Adam Grimmett, James Grimmett, Justin Grimmett, and Tanner Grimmett. Honorary pall bearers will be Gary Kevin Grimmett and Grady Homer Grimmett. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
