Naomi Ruth Blankenship, 88, of Bruno, went home to be with the Lord praising Jesus for the power of the Holy Spirit that guided her throughout her life on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born June 7, 1924, at Bruno, the last surviving child of the late Noah and Edna "Edy" Trent Walls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Lee Blankenship; two sons, Billy Barrett and Rev. Bennie Blankenship; two sisters, Audrey Montgomery and Marvin Walls; one brother, Buster Walls; and one granddaughter, Beverly Blankenship.
Naomi was a home maker. She was a faithful member of Bruno Church of God where she served the Lord in many capacities. Naomi enjoyed reading the Bible on her front porch and working crossword puzzles.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Sally (Ronald) Egnor of South Point, OH; son, Jim (Yolanda) Blankenship of Danville and Greg (Karen) Blankenship of Bruno; ten grandchildren, including a very special granddaughter, Bridget Marcum of Lancaster, OH, Billy Barrett, Michelle Barrett, Alexis Blankenship of Chapmanville, Sara Blankenship of Six Mile in Boone County, Brittany Berry, Justin Berry, Christina Berry, all of Bruno, Tyler Wallace of Mud Fork and Morgan Copley of Morgantown; one great-granddaughter, Payton Harvey; her sister-in-law, Rosella Blankenship of Bruno; and special friends, Pastor Roger Frye and Anna Walker; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Bruno Church of God at Bruno with Pastor Roger Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Browning-Grimmett Cemetery at Bruno.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bruno Church of God and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Jim Blankenship, Greg Blankenship, Jerry Lee Toler, John L. Collins, Ronnie Egnor, and Michael Vanover.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
