Mary Ruth Elkins Of Amherstdale, WV Mary Ruth Elkins, 93, of Amherstdale, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 23, 1919, at Cyclone, the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Bertha Ann Burgess Paynter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otha Edison Elkins; her sons, Roger Lee Burgess, Jennings Lee Elkins, Otha Lynn Elkins, and Charles Graves Burgess; her daughter, Judy Alice (Joe Douglas) Thompson; one granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson Deel; her brothers, Arnold (Hester) Paynter, Calvin (Thelma) Paynter, Dexter (Nellie) Paynter, George (Margaret) Paynter, and Eugene Paynter; her sisters, Nancy (Nathan) Miller, Donzel (Sherman) Blankenship, and Virginia Pearl Paynter; and her brother-in-law, Jeff Eldridge. Mary Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the world's best baker, cook, seamstress, and Ms. Fix It. Adored by all who knew her for her gentle, kind, and understanding ways, Mary Ruth was a member of the Mallory Church of God and when she was able attended church faithfully. Those left to cherish her memory are her only surviving child, Ramona Kay Poston and her husband, Charles Kelly, of Amherstdale with whom she made her home; her best friend, Inis Poston of Amherstdale; one sister, Bonnie Eldridge of Campus; her daughter-in-law and best friend, Debbie Elkins of Manassas, VA; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Paynter of Accoville; 12 grandchildren, Charles Kelly (Crystal) Poston of Moneta, VA, Mark K. Poston of Salem, VA, Sandra Kay (Larry) Adams of Davin, Joey (Becky) Thompson of Canton, NC, Robin Sue (Michael) Cline of Abingdon, VA, Kevin (Becky) Thompson of Greenville, MI, Christopher Thompson of Man, Christopher (Kelly) Elkins of FL, Geoffrey Elkins of Manassas, VA, Delana (Kenny) Spence of Shawsville, VA, Kevin Elam of Man, and Melinda Gibson of Accoville; great-grand-children, Michael (Dee Dee) Spolarich of Hurricane, Derrick Spolarich of Morgantown, Sheena Cline of Oceana, Nikki Thompson of NC, Jennifer Foran of IL, Katie Thompson and Noah Thompson, both of Greenville, MI, Daryan Thompson of Man, and Brittany Sue Deel of Chapmanville, and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Mallory Church of God with Lay Minister Charles Paynter and Rev. Shaun Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Paynter Family Cemetery at Campus. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Mallory Church of God and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the entire staff of Dignity Hospice for the care and concern they provided to Mary Ruth and our family. The family sends a thousand thanks to Robin Sue Cline for being Aunt Kay's and Momma's special guardian angel and to Mary Ruth's Golden Girls, Inis Poston, Patricia Belcher, Janet Miller, and Sandra Adams.
