Georgie Ellen Walls Burgess
Of Lyburn, WV
Georgie Ellen Walls Burgess, 75, of Lyburn, our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 13, 2013, at CAMC due to a long illness.
She was born July 2, 1937, at Earling, the daughter of the late Linford and Mary Ann Ellison Walls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ermel Burgess; one grandson, Richard Scott Reed; four brothers, Fred Walls, Harlen Walls, Jessie Walls, and Roger Walls; four sisters, Ruth Walls, Daisy Marie Walls Russell, Virginia Walls Hill, and Bonnie Walls Depta.
She retired from Pittston Coal Company. Georgie enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Bright Star Freewill Baptist Church at Ethel.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Mary) Burgess of Lyburn, Nancy DePiero and Drema (Ricky) Reed, both of Pleasant City, OH, and Ernie (Pam) Burgess of Lyburn; one sister, Margaret Ferrell of Lyburn; one sister-in-law, Anna Lou Walls of Lyburn; her grandchildren, Kelly (Larry) Lawson of Sarahsville, OH, Lori Toler of New Lebannon, OH, Veronica (Josh) Lusk and David Burgess, both of Lyburn, Lisa (Tyson) Burgess of Marietta, OH, and Lisa (John) Flaitz, Anthony DePiero, Daniel Reed, and Amy (Richard) Reed, all of Pleasant City, OH; and 19 great-grandchildren which she adored; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man, where a funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bazzil Goodman officiating.
At Georgie's request her remains will be cremated.
