Carl Basil Barker
Of Kistler, WV
Carl Basil Barker, 73, of Kistler, went to be with the LORD on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at CAMC-Memorial Division, after a long illness.
He was born December 23, 1940, in Lincoln County, the son of the late Basil and Pearl Fowler Barker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Carlos, and Jerry; and one grandson, Christopher Carl Vance.
A man who loved the outdoors, Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He was a former school bus driver for the Logan County Board of Education and was a coal miner formerly employed with Pittston Coal Company.
Those left to treasure his memory include his wife of 50 years, Elaine; one daughter, Connie (Karl) DeLong of Pelion, SC; one son, Carl (Candy) Barker of Kistler; one sister, Imogene (David) Blair of Neibert; seven grandchildren, Brandon DeLong, Tiffany Amyx, Keely Barker, Samantha McCoy, Alexis McCoy, Megan McCoy, and Abigail McCoy; one special grandson, Calvin Vance II; and four great-grandchildren, Hazel, Brandon Carl, Kathryn, and Elijah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Arby Adkins and Rev. Mike Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be David E. Blair, Mike Skaggs, Zachary Smith, Randy White, Ronald McCoy, and Jimmy Walker.
Honorary pall bearer will be Calvin Vance, II.
