Obituary of Michael Jabo Spaulding

Michael Wade Spaulding Of Madison Creek, WV Michael Wade "Jabo" Spaulding, 41, of Madison Creek, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, after an extended illness. He was born March 1, 1971, at Logan, the son of Loudima Maynard Spaulding of Madison Creek and the late Otis Prentiss Spaulding. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russell and Lena Daniels Maynard and their children, Gladys and Elzie Harless, Bernard and Maggie Maynard, Bill Maynard, Clarence Maynard, John Russell "Junior" Maynard, Berthel and Flora Mae Maynard, Charlie Maynard, Cletis Maynard, and Edith Maynard; and his paternal grandparents, Harrison and Vada Webb Spaulding and their children, Floretta Spaulding and Mose and Betty Wright. Jabo was a disabled coal miner formerly employed with Madison Creek Coal Company. He was a 1989 graduate of Man High School. Jabo enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia cards. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and working with honey bees. A humorous person, Jabo loved to spend time with his family and make everyone around him laugh. He will be deeply missed. Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, are his children, Michael Bailey and Katie Dawn Bailey, both of Rita; his close friend who Jabo considered a son, Eric Chambers of Holden; five sisters, Kathy (David) Stapleton of Amherstdale, and Beatrice Spaulding, Carol Spaulding Perry, Barbara (Roger) Caldwell, Jr., and Julie (Tony) Stephens, all of Madison Creek; two brothers, Glenn (Liz Mosley) Spaulding and Otis Prentiss (Raylene) Spaulding, Jr., both of Madison Creek; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Spaulding, David Stapleton II, Carolyn and Roger Spaulding, Melissa and Robert Caldwell, Jules Burgess, Michael Spaulding, Christina Frye, Otis Prentiss "Opie" Spaulding III, and Staci Spaulding; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Karen, Brody, Madison, Easton, Skylar, Jeremy, Zach, Cody, Kayla, and Kylie; two uncles, Harrison (Charlene) Spaulding of Madison Creek and Lester Maynard of Rita; and several cousins along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Loudima and Prentiss Spaulding Cemetery at Madison Creek. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
