Obituary of Flavious Lee Noel

Flavious Lee Noel Of Mallory, WV Flavious Lee Noel, 86, of Mallory, departed this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness. He was born on April 14, 1928, at Wilsondale in Wayne County, the son of the late E.R., Sr. and Vicey Ann Marcum Noel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Chelsey Noel, Sr., Howard Noel, Walter Noel, and Ronald "Fred" Noel; and sisters, Charlene Noel Deskins and Louise Noel Hagman. Lee was a 1948 graduate of Lenore High School where he lettered in Basketball. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he attained the rank of Corporal and served in the 3rd Armored Division. Lee was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Island Creek Coal Company for 41 years. An owner of the Pic Pac Grocery Store in Man and Justice, Lee was often seen greeting customers and working at both stores. A member of the Man Church of God, he had served as an Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, and Choir member during his almost 50 years of membership. Many people may remember him as the bass singer of the Evangeleers Quartet. Lee was a member of the Lions Club at Man for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer who loved to golf with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 60 years, Billie Redmond Noel; two children, Nancy (Ron) Lemon and Norman (Danita) Noel, both of Mallory; four grandchildren, Eric (Kerry) Lemon and Erin (Roger) Bias, both of Man and Sean (Misty) Noel and Shane Noel, both of Mallory; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Lemon and Logan, Laya, and Connor Noel; sisters, Mae Osborne of Cyclone and Bernice (Fred) Kirk of Wytheville, VA; brothers, Emory (Ola) Noel, Jr. of Little River, SC, David (Margaret) Noel of Uniontown, OH, Rev. Eddie (Delores) Noel of Brunswick, OH, and Rev. Charles "Les" (Shirley) Noel of Springfield, OH; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the Church of God at Man with Rev. Bob Noel, Rev. Donald Lafferty, and Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Man Church of God and one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Man Church of God Paving Fund, P.O. Box 235, Man, WV 25635 Pall bearers will be Eric Lemon, Sean and Shane Noel, Roger Bias II, David Thompson, Mark Brown, and Gene Bevins. Honorary pall bearers will be his surviving brothers, brother-in-law, Roy Brown, and Darrell Deskins.
