Obituary of Bill L. Murray

Rev. Bill L. Murray Of Davin, WV Rev. Bill L. Murray, 80, of Davin, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 26, 2012, from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan after an extended illness. He was born March 31, 1932, at MacBeth, the son of the late Robert Alonzo and Arminta Fields Murray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ona Marie Murray, Raymond Elmer Murray, Charlie Murray, William "Buck" Murray, Lily Bailey, Ella Mae Gilbert, Iva June Butcher, and infant sister, Dottie Jean Murray. After graduation from Man High School, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He started his working career as a machinist for Lorado Coal Company while working toward his mine electrician certification. He spent the next 30 years employed as an electrician at various companies including Dehue Coal Company, Youngstown Mine, and Kopperston Mine. Upon his retirement, Bill felt the Lord leading him toward ministry. Minding the Lord, he graduated from the Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and pastored the Blair United Methodist Church at Blair for five years and the Omar Community Church at Omar for five years. He was a member of the Claypool United Methodist Church for 48 years where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Pastor/Parish Committee member, Youth Leader, and held various other church offices throughout the years. Bill was dedicated to helping others and devoted to the Lord and his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 1/2 years, Brookie Ann Bailey Murray of Davin; two daughters, Dr. Michelle Murray of Louisa, KY and Sharon Murray of Huntington, WV; many nieces and nephews, and his church family along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with Rev. David Fisher, Rev. Bryan C. Baker, and Brother Bill Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby where military graveside rites will be conducted. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be Jimmy Williams, Bobby Woods, John Grimmett, Johnny Staten, Robert Thomas Murray, and William Paul Murray.
