Jerry Lee Solomon Of Amherstdale, WV Jerry Lee Solomon, 72, of Amherstdale, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 17, 2012, after injuries he sustained in an automobile accident at Lyburn. He was born February 8, 1940, at Becco, the son of the late Barda M. Solomon Lusk. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Sue Burgoyne; and his aunts and uncles, Douglas and Margaret Solomon, James Solomon, Everett Solomon, Savannah "Ann" Lester. Jerry worked as a salesman for Paul Cook Ford at Logan for many years. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. After his discharge, he became a licensed barber from the barber school in Huntington. Jerry ended his working career as a coal miner employed with Westmoreland Coal Company. He was an active member of the Becco United Baptist Church where he participated in the choir, men's fellowship, bible study, and touched many lives as he carried his testimony of salvation everywhere he went. Never having met a stranger, Jerry uplifted everyone he met with his jolly nature and joyous testimony of a living Savior. Devoted to his family, Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lil Adkins Solomon of Amherstdale; three sons, Lee Martin (Amanda) Goguen of St. Augustine, FL, and James Ivan (Victoria) Dean Jr. and Skip Steven (Kimberly) Dean, both of Amherstdale; two daughters, Nicole Ann (Jonathan) Gillenwater of Logan and Sara (Jay) Chapman of Lenore; one sister, Deborah Lynn (Robie) Waugh of Amherstdale; one aunt, Irene Goldie Taft of Flat Rock, MI; one uncle, John Marvin Solomon of Amherstdale; eight grandchildren, Osheanna Danielle Lonergan, Brannigan Leigh Goguen, Kyle Lee Goguen, Cora Shae Harvey, Carson Jaylen Dean, Steven Douglas Dean, Jared Chapman, and Andrew Chapman; one niece, Leslie Waugh Grimmett; one nephew, Larry Michael Waugh; two great-nieces, Kelsey Renee Grimmett and Alexis Paige Grimmett; one great-great-nephew, Braden Michael Grimmett; and his church family along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. Denver McClellan Jr. and Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery at McConnell where military graveside rites will be conducted. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be brethren of the Becco United Baptist Church.
