Obituary of Johnny Ray Booth

Johnny Ray Booth Of Mallory, WV Johnny Ray Booth, 68, of Mallory, departed this life Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness. He was born January 5, 1944, at Yolyn, the son of the late Charles Leslie and Georgia Adkins Booth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Ann Booth, Virginia Lou Adkins, and Wilma Jean Howard; and one brother, Donald Booth. Johnny was a coal miner who retired from Pittston Coal Company after 20 years. He was a member of the UMWA District 17 and was of the Baptist faith. An outdoorsman, Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting, and 4-wheeling during which he loved picking up cans and visiting with anyone in the area. He loved dirt track racing, working on automobiles, especially Chevrolets, watching the grandkids play ball, and spending time with his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Julia Manns Booth; three sons, Charles Booth and his companion, Loretta Salyers, of Verdunville, Terry Booth and his companion, Kelly Workman, of Mallory, and Jamie Booth and his wife, Tammy, of Claypool; two sisters, Frances Tabor and her husband, Hollis, of Brunswick, OH and Teresa Henri and her husband, Michael, of Ashland, WI; three brothers, Norman Booth and his wife, Juanita, of Crown, Ronald "Buzz" Booth of Cleveland, OH, and Danny Booth and his wife, Judy, of Sanford, NC; five grandchildren, Brittany Goodman, Abby Michelle Booth, Morgan Chayce Booth, Hunter Workman, and Blake Workman; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Michelle Goodman; his loyal canine companion, Jack; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Bethel Perkey officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay-Fraley Cemetery at Branchland. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be Turl Browning, Dean Plumley, Freddy Wingler, Bennie Lester, Russell Brown, and Freddy Tiller.
