John Edward "Jed" Duncan, Jr. Of Gilman Bottom, WV Gilman Bottom, WV --- John Edward "Jed" Duncan, Jr., 46, of Gilman Bottom, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born June 30, 1965, at Logan, a son of Betty L. Hammonds Cook of Gilman Bottom and the late John Edward Duncan, Sr. Jed was a 1985 graduate of Man High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served and was wounded in Desert Storm in 1991. Jed enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He loved his family and his sons, and especially loved spending time with his five year old son Ethan and nephew Gunnar. Jed will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him. His smile and sense of humor that always made everyone laugh will be deeply missed. He will always be in our hearts forever. Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Tyler Jo Duncan of North Carolina and Ethan John Duncan of Gilman Bottom; his mother, Betty L. Cook and his step-father, Russell Cook, both of Gilman Bottom; two sisters, Symone (Casey) Carter of Lyburn and Debbie Brown of Vances Bottom; his fiancé, Kimberly Runyon of Verner; two step-sons, Justin Holt and Christopher Holt; his niece and nephews, Casey Carter, Jr., Ashley Deflumeri, and Gunnar Goodman; his great-niece, Khylah Byrd; and a special friend who was like a father, James "Tyke" Brown; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church at Greenville. Burial will follow in the Hammond Family Cemetery at Greenville. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church and one hour prior to services also. Pall bearers will be Casey Carter, Sr., Timothy Osborne, Todd Goodman, Charles Belcher, Jr., Rayvonne West, and David Tomblin, Jr. Military honors will be observed.
