Obituary of Shirley Jean Napier

Shirley Jean Napier Mallory, WV Shirley Jean Wooten Napier, 74, of Mallory, joined her loving husband of 51 years in their Heavenly home on Sunday, February 26, 2012. She departed this life from her home, surrounded by her devoted family and friends, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born July 24, 1937, in McDowell County, the daughter of the late George and Virginia Stevens Wooten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Delano Napier; and two brothers, Darrell "Midge" Wooten and Bill Wooten. Shirley was a home maker and a Christian of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Born with a green thumb, Shirley loved to garden, growing bountiful gardens of vegetables and flowers. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Diane Ellis and Sherry (Brian) Workman, both of Greenville; four sons, David Franklin (Jennifer) Napier of Bruno, Bobby (Donna) Napier of Man, Donny (Teresa) Napier of Milton, and Terry "T.T." (Carla) Napier of Greenville; 12 grandchildren, Angela (Tad) Doty, Joey (Casey) Ellis, Misty Napier, Tara Workman, Erica Ellis, Jennifer (Troy) Keller, Katie Napier, Paige Napier, Laura Napier, Taylor Napier, Nathan Napier, and Jacob Napier; two step-grandchildren, Tabatha Hatfield and Steven (Krysta) Ritz; 10 great-grandchildren, Preston, Tori, Skylar, Rileigh, Laci, Brenton, Payton, Jaxon, Trace, and Brody; four sisters, Delores Schoolcraft of Mallory, Mary (Merrill "Jr.") Blankenship of OH, Frances (Freddy) Wingler of Mallory, and Phyllis Hatfield of Logan; one brother, Jack Wooten of OH; a special nephew and niece, Paul and Kay Schoolcraft of Mallory; a special friend, Niwana Napier of Cyclone; and several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Donald Sparks officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
