Kenneth Virgil Maynard, Jr.
Of Braeholm, WV
Kenneth Virgil Maynard, Jr., 63, of Braeholm, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2012, from CAMC-Memorial Division, after an extended illness.
He was born April 16, 1948, at Man, a son of the late Virgil and Virginia Grimmett Maynard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Paul "Tug" Maynard.
A retired coal miner and member of the UMWA District 17, Kenny loved many things especially singing with his wife and son at many area churches. He was a faithful member and Deacon at the Becco United Baptist Church for 37 years where he loved playing guitar for the church choir. He passed on his love of music to anyone who was interested in learning to play the guitar.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Lambert Maynard; one son, Dennis (Kellie) Maynard of Amherstdale; two daughters, Teressa (Doug) Witt of Blacksburg, VA and Shelly (Josh) Kerr of Braeholm; five grandchildren, Lucas and Noah Maynard of Amherstdale, Tori Smith of Braeholm, and John and Jamie Laws of Blacksburg, VA; two brothers, David (special sister-in-law, Libby) Maynard of Braeholm and Paul Maynard of Knoxville, TN; four sisters, Belinda (Jay) Bellar of Cross Lanes, Kathy (John) Ferguson of Mink Shoals, JoAnn Larkin of Syracuse, NY, and Barbara (Allen) Bell of Knoxville, TN; his mother-in-law, Ida Lambert of Braeholm; two special nieces, Kim (Larry) Harvey of South Man and Lisa (Jeremiah) Harless of Braeholm; and many other nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. Denver McClellan and Rev. P. J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be family and church members.
