Edith Irene Hoosier Maynard
Of Lorado, WV
Edith Irene Hoosier Maynard, 77, of Lorado, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 8, 2012, from Trinity Health Care at Logan, after a long illness.
She was born January 14, 1934, at Lorado, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ella Mae Dalton Hoosier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Maynard; one son, Tony Curtis Maynard; and three sisters, Dora Mae Burgess, Mary Ellen Grimmette, and Shirley Ann Gibson.
Edith was a home maker and a member of the Bethel Tabernacle at Lorado for over 25 years. When living with her daughter, she attended the Davin Baptist Church at Davin. A Christian for 34 years, she loved going to church wherever she was, tending her flower garden, crocheting, and being with family and friends. A friendly person, Edith greeted everyone she met with a smile.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Gladys (Earl) Pelfrey of Huff Creek; two sons, Andrew (Lisa) Maynard of Stowe and Bobby Gene Maynard of Fairview, OK; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Maynard of Accoville; two sisters, Charlotte (Scotty) Gibson of Elgin, IL and Janey (Danny) Clark of New Haven; four brothers, Arthur (Jo Ann) Hoosier of Lorado, Claude (Bobby Jo) Hoosier of Lundale, and Billy (Marge) Hoosier and Terry Hoosier, both of Staunton, VA; a special friend, Louvena Davis of Lorado; nine grandchildren, Shawna, Stacie, Jamie, Gina, Sabrina, Peggy, Jason, Brian, and Jeremy; and eighteen great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Johnny Hatfield and Rev. Earl Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be Jason Beaty, Randy Davis, Shane Privett, Edward Hoosier, Brian Beaty, and Jeremy Maynard.
