Brenda Sue Walker
Of Kistler, WV
Brenda Sue Hammonds Walker, 60, of Kistler, formerly of Greenville, departed this life Thursday, December 29, 2011, at CAMC-Memorial Division.
She was born February 6, 1951, at Greenville, the daughter of the late Taylor and Effie Mae Ellis Hammonds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stillborn sister and two other sisters, Mable Hall and Darlene Clay; and three brothers, Doris Richard Hammonds, Frederick Hammonds, and Aubrey Hammonds.
Brenda was a home maker and a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of the Greenville Free Will Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Sheila (Joe) Buchanon of Lorado; one son, Avery "Pork" Walker of Kistler; three grandchildren, Cortina (Thomas) Stickler of Kopperston, and Brandy Buchanon and Joey "Buck" Buchanon, both of Lorado; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Maynard; two brothers, Tracy Hammonds of Biscoe, NC and Charles Hammonds of Davin; five sisters, Rachel Allen and Sharlene Hammonds, both of Greenville, Betty (Russ) Cook of Gilman Bottom, Karen Workman of Amherstdale, and Carol (Larry) Lawson of Lyburn; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the Greenville Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Baxter Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Hammonds Family Cemetery at Greenville.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Greenville Free Will Baptist Church and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Steven Hammonds, Danny Williams, Keith Buchanon, Joey Buchanon Jr., Ralph Caudill, Ricky Allen Jr., and Timmy Allen.
