James E. Carter
Of Bruno, WV
James E. Carter, 76, of Bruno, joined his family in Heaven on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a long illness.
He was born July 22, 1938, at Sandlick, the son of the late James E. and Cleo Mosley Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Walls Carter; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Linze Brown; one grandson, Jamey Brown; one granddaughter-in-law, Nikki Brown; one brother, William "Billy" Carter.
James was a coal miner for 40 years who worked for Island Creek Coal Company for many years and retired from Consol Coal Corp. He was a member of the Pathway Church of God. A family man, James loved and took care of his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are two grandsons, Billy Brown of Bruno and Aeden White of Spruce Laurel; one brother, Gerald (Brenda) Carter of Bruno; one sister, Betty (Bob) Surface of Lindside; his sister-in-law, Margie Spry of Kistler; a friend, Barbara Glass of Rum Creek; and several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Roger Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home also.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
