Peggy Ann Brown Blankenship
Of Davin, WV
Peggy Ann Brown Blankenship, 79, of Davin, was called to Heaven by our dear Lord to be by the side of her soul mate, Jimmy Harold Blankenship, on Monday, August 1, 2011, from Logan Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born on October 6, 1931, at Panther in McDowell County, a daughter of the late Walter Ray and Hannah Mae Collins Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Harold Blankenship; two sisters, Suretha Humphries and Jane Lester; and two brothers, Jimmy Ray Brown and Edward Lee Lester.
Peggy was retired after 13 years of service from Burgess and Lohn Supermarket, where she worked in the meat shop. She was an avid home maker who always put her family first. Devoted to her family, she took pride in her home. Dedicated to lending a helping hand to those in need, Peggy was always there to talk to and to help solve any problems that arose. Her hobbies included taking care of her flowers, spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, and entertaining family and friends. She loved country music and had a beautiful singing voice. Peggy was known to many throughout her childhood as a “little songbird” and traveled to many churches to sing. She loved her precious dogs, Jumper and Molly. Active in politics, Peggy stood up for what she believed and was very efficient at any task that was given to her.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Jenny Mae Blankenship (Marshall) Walls of Summersville; two sons, Robert Harold Blankenship at home and Gregory Joe (Teresa) Blankenship of Beaver; two sisters, Gloria Dowdy of Mechanicsville, VA and Lillian Asch of Flushing, NY; two grandsons, Timothy Greg Blankenship of Princeton and Bradley Allen Walls of Summersville; three granddaughters, Tera Jo Blankenship of Beaver, Tasha Danielle Curry of Williamson, and Katherine Denise Curry of South Man; one great-grandson, Isaac Bradley Walls of Summersville; her precious dogs, Jumper Harold Blankenship and Molly Walls; her new cat, Mookie Ray Blankenship; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Logan Regional Medical Center for the kindness and care given to Peggy throughout her illness as well as Dr. B.P. Rao of Whitman.
The family requests that no cameras be brought into the funeral home.
