Obituary of Theodore Ted Collins

THEODORE (TED) COLLINS OF DAVIN, WV Theodore (Ted) Collins, 71, of Davin, WV, left this life on July 12, 2011, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 10, 1940, in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of the late Robert and Darsula Johnson Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Johnny Collins, and three sisters, Josephine Mullins, Wanda Collins and Draxie Johansen. Ted was the retired owner and operator of Superior Filter Company of Davin. He was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time in Western Kentucky on Lake Barkley. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Corns Collins; their three children, Susan Collins of Mallory, Paul (Misty) Collins of Amherstdale, and Thomas Collins of Cross Lanes; four grandchildren, Cody Collins of Mallory, Jonathan, Nick, and Emily Collins, of Amherstdale; one brother, Bob Collins of Godby Branch; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Collins of Ripley; one brother-in-law, Arnold Mullins of Godby Branch; and many nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held from 6-9 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man. At Ted’s request, the remains will be cremated.
