David Lee Burgess Of Robinette, WV David Lee Burgess, 64, of Robinette, departed this life Thursday, May 12, 2011, at CAMC-General Division, after an extended illness. He was born April 22, 1947, at Robinette, a son of Esta Kasey Burgess of Robinette and the late Dewey Burgess. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Burgess, Jr. and W.H. “Wimpy” Burgess; and one nephew, James Ray Baisden. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served his country proudly in the 37th Air Defense Missile Squadron during the Viet Nam War. He was a disabled coal miner formerly employed with Arch of WV. David enjoyed fishing and camping. Devoted to his family, he especially loved to take his grandchildren fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. Those left to remember and cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, are his loving wife of 37 years, Karen Hutchinson Burgess of Robinette; one son, Aaron Lee (Angel) Burgess of Verdunville; two daughters, April Dawn (Patrick Adkins) Burgess of Accoville and Rebecca Lynn (Nick) Copley of Dunbar; one brother, William “Bill” (Thelma) Burgess of Greenbriar County; two sisters, Genevieve (Eddie) Osborne of Lorado and Debbie Huffman of Robinette; five grandchildren, Dakota “Cody” Albright of Accoville, Ashton “Ashton Bug” Copley of Dunbar, Kenneth “Little Aaron” Burgess and McKenna Burgess, both of Verdunville, and soon to arrive, Patrick David Adkins; his sister-in-law, Cherie Burgess of Robinette; a special great-nephew and water boy, Kaden Chase “Little Buddy” Dickerson of Robinette; other special nieces and nephews, Shannon “Shanny Bug” Baisden, Charles “Chuck” Burgess, William “Billy” Burgess Jr., David Lee Burgess, Melissa Iacono, and Michelle Huffman; many great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. Paul (P.J.) Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville, and the DAV Post 39 of Harts. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also. Pall bearers will be T.J. Chambers, Kenneth Nelson, Randall Stepp, Dave Riley, Nick Copley, and Claude “Bubby” Baisden, Jr. Honorary pall bearers will be Dakota “Cody” Albright, Eddie Osborne, and Patrick Adkins.
