Obituary of Judith Lee Hatfield

Judith Lee Hatfield Of Man, WV Judith Lee “Judy” Manko Hatfield, 74, of Man, went to join her parents in Heaven of Sunday, May 8, 2011, from CAMC-Memorial Division, after a short illness. She was born January 7, 1937, at Man, the daughter of the late Joe and Myrtle Combs Manko. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Andrew and Mary Toth Manko and Grover Cleveland and Wavie Short Combs; three aunts, Essie Robison, Esta Butcher, and Eva Thompson; one uncle, Denver Combs; one cousin, Ginger McMahon; and one son-in-law, Kim Hurley. Judy was a switch board operator who retired from the Logan County Board of Education’s Central Office after over 20 years of service. She was a 1955 graduate of Old Man High School and was a member of the Old Man High Alumni Association. When she was able she attended Man Church of the Nazarene. Fiercely independent, Judy had a bold personality and a laugh you could recognize from miles away. Judy was a strong advocate of Democratic politics in Logan County for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and traveling. Judy was devoted to her family and loved all animals, especially her dog, Beauty, and her two cats, Maury and Angel. Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Georgianna Hurley of Man; three grandchildren, Jacinda (Chris) Adkins, Joseph Hurley, and Jesalyn (Ricky) Ross, all of Man; one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Jo Ross of Man; one aunt, Virginia “Jenny” Finley of Huntington; three special first cousins, Gerald Robison of FL, Larry Robison of SC, and Charles Edward Thompson of FL; and a special friend and ex-husband, George W. Hatfield of Man along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be Ricky Ross, Chris Adkins, Chad Preston, Joseph Hurley, Brian Adkins, and Johnny Adkins. Honary pall bearers will be Doug Williamson, Tim Stacy, Rev. Gary Henry, and Terry Fekete.
