Rose Ellen Mullins Duba
Of Sophia, WV
Rose Ellen Mullins Duba, 69, of Sophia, formerly of Man, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2011, where the Saints are rejoicing.
She was born April 24, 1941, at Shelby Gap, KY, the youngest daughter of the late Ansel and Lenore Holbrook Mullins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline Mullins Oberhuber.
She was a lifelong member of the Man Church of the Nazarene and was currently attending the Beckley First Church of the Nazarene. Rose loved attending church, singing, and spending time with family and friends.
Rose was a 35 year employee of the Logan County Board of Education, primarily as an Elementary teacher and finished her career as an administrator in the Special Education Department.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years, Melvin of Sophia; two children, Phillip (Dianna) Duba of South Point, OH and Cynthia (Tommy) Vance of Mallory; six grandchildren, Danielle, Blaine, and Rebekah Vance, all of Mallory, DeLynn (Kevin) Endicott of Man, Rudy Phillips of South Charleston, and Brigette Duba of South Point, OH; one great-grandson, Jacob Cain Endicott of Man; two brothers, James B. (Jeannette) Mullins of Springfield, VA and Norman (Hillary) Mullins of York, SC; one special brother-in-law, George Oberhuber of Albuquerque, NM; along with many other relatives and special friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Man Church of the Nazarene at Man with Rev. James B. Kittle officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
The family will be receiving friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Man Church of the Nazarene and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be Brandon Smith, Woody Duba, Bill Bishop, Gary Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, and Charles Erwin.
Honorary pall bearers will be Charles T. “Buddy” Ellis, Bill Mitchell, and Garrett Luther.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 424 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
