Ruford Harold Adkins Sr.
Of Robinette, WV
Ruford Harold Adkins Sr., 63, of Robinette, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 27, 2011, from CAMC-General Division at Charleston, after a short illness.
He was born September 11, 1947, at Robinette, a son of the late Clarence Herbert Adkins Sr. and Georgia Ann Smith Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Adkins; and two sisters, Lois Hatfield and Loraine Adkins.
Ruford was a retired coal miner formerly employed with Pittston Coal Company for 25 years. He was a member of the UMWA and was an Army veteran who served in Viet Nam in 1968. Ruford loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all of his heart. A good Christian man, Ruford loved the Lord with all of his heart. Devoted to his family, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Brenda Sue Hager Adkins of Robinette; two daughters, Jennifer Ann Adkins (Joey Copley) of Kistler and Medina Sue (Travis) Akers of Winfield; two sons, Ruford Harold (Nikki) Adkins Jr. of Amherstdale and Jesse Harold Adkins of Robinette; two grandchildren, Joseph Ruford Copley of Kistler and Autumn Skye Adkins of Amherstdale; one brother, Herbert Adkins of Robinette; and five sisters, Jean Williams and Zola “Doodle” Connors, both of Robinette, Eunice Bragg of Amherstdale, Francis “Lulu” (Vince) Vincent of Chesapeake, JoAnn Grimmett McNeely (Darrell Lockhart) of Iaeger; his mother-in-law, Virginia Mae Hager of Robinette; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will commence at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Robinette Church of God at Robinette with Rev. Albert Cline and Rev. Michael Van Natter officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Robinette Church of God and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Joey Copley, Robert Bevins, Rodney Gibson, Max Rakes, Billie Paul Browning, David Browning, P.D. Browning, and Donald Bragg.
