Mack Green Johnson
Of Kistler, WV
Mack Green Johnson, 76, of Accoville, joined his wife in their heavenly home Monday, March 21, 2011, from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan.
He was born February 10, 1935, at Accoville, the son of the late Edgar and Lora Hutchinson Johnston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda “Perky” Johnson; two sisters, Mae Lee Hager and Geraldine Johnston; and one brother, Rev. Naamon Johnston.
Mack was a retired coal miner formerly employed with Perry Branch Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA local 2935. Mack proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and then reenlisted in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently he spent many enjoyable hours watching football and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Renee (Joe) Schumacher of Robinette; one son, Mackie (Kenna) Johnson of Accoville; six sisters, Betty Jo Bailey of West Hamlin, Ida (Don) Spears and Sue (Richard) Adkins, both of South Amherst, OH, Mary (Oscar) Adkins and Brenda (David) Bragg, both of Accoville, and Linda Spencer of Charleston; six grandchildren, Ruth Gieseck of Greenville, David Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson, and Corey Gillispie, all of Accoville, and Kortney Gillispie and Bub Gillispie, both of Man; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A special thanks to Mary Adkins for the loving care she gave to Mack.
Funeral services will commence at 12 Noon Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Buddy Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Mackie Johnson, David Johnson, Michael Owens, Gary Arthur, John Imes, and Nickey Johnston.
Honorary pall bearers will be Don Spears, Oscar Adkins, Richard Adkins, David Bragg, and Boone Simpkins.
