Of Accoville, WV
Charles Edward Frye, 66, a lifelong resident of Accoville celebrated resurrection Saturday March 5, 2011 at home following an extended illness.
He was born October 24, 1944 in Logan. Charles was raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Nora Frye who was his beloved Mommy.
Also preceding him in death were his dearly loved daughter and son-in-law, Kristine Frye Blevins and Ricky Dale Blevins; his mother, Mabel Frye; his grandparents, Charlie and Nora Frye; aunts and uncles whom he loved as brothers and sisters, Howard Frye, Bill Frye, Stewart and Minnie Frye, and Frank Brown; and his parents-in-law, Denver “Buck, Poppy” and Martha “Granny” McClellan.
A born again Christian and servant of the Lord, Charles was a member of Becco United Baptist Church. He began his career working for Amherst Coal Company at the Amherst Service Station. Through the years, Charles advanced to mine engineer, Licensed Land Surveyor, Mine Foreman, and Superintendent. He was a Land Developer, builder, contractor, coal operator, and entrepreneur having owned and operated several companies in the area. A man of great vision, he was a hard worker and an astute businessman. He enjoyed building and was always planning the next project. Charles loved his family, friends, church family, old westerns, classic cars, all animals, nostalgia, and traveling.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Sandra Kay McClellan Frye; one daughter, Kelly Frye (Carlos Valerio); two grandchildren, Stacy Kay Blevins Atkins whom he raised as his own daughter, and her husband, Greg, and Gabriel Charles Valerio; a special person that he loved like a son, Asden A. Davis III; aunts, Maxine “Sissy” Brown McCain and Maxine Frye; one brother, Talmadge Hager and his wife, Naomi; a dear friend and business partner who was like a brother, Bob Gilliam and his wife, Linda; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Becco United Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be nephews and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Ellis, Eddie Merritt, Doug Williamson, Mike Wingler, Chris Brown, Jim Blevins, Joe Crum, Bob Gilliam, and Jay Williams.
