Obituary of Dawna Jean Corns Perry

Dawna Jean Corns Perry Of Davin, WV Dawna Jean Corns Perry, 85, of Davin, passed away March 3, 2011, at Charleston, after a long and happy life. Jean was born November 27, 1925, at Robinette, the only daughter of the late Alvis and Ruth Bailey Corns. She grew up in the community of Mineral City along with her brothers, Donald, Jack, Jim, and Joe Corns. A 1942 graduate of Man High School, Jean worked for 42 years as a customer service representative for Appalachian Power Company before retiring in 1988. Jean was married on October 26, 1950 to Luther Murray Perry of Accoville. Jean and Luther resided in Davin and he preceded her in death in 1994. Jean was a competitive and avid bowler, a member and past-president of the Logan Women’s Bowling Association, a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Man Appalachian Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Dawna Jean is survived by her twin brothers, Jim and Joe Corns, both of Mineral City, sisters-in-law, Ruth Corns and Jean Corns, both of Mineral City; nieces, Sharon Corns Doss of South Charleston, Lori Corns Mitchell of Mineral City, Tamara Corns Gibson of South Man, and Margaret Corns Meade and Judith Corns Butcher, both of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Donald Dale Corns of Charlotte, NC and James A. Corns, Jr. of Logan; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many long-time friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pall bearers will be Donnie Corns, Jamie Corns, Joey Mitchell, Eric Gibson, Luke Nelson, and Barry Doss. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
