Arlie Eugene Poston, Jr.
Of Amherstdale, WV
Arlie Eugene “Gene” Poston, Jr., 58, of Amherstdale, joined his family in heaven on Monday, January 31, 2011, from Bowers Hospice House at Beckley, after a short illness.
He was born May 8, 1952, at Logan, a son of Inis Goodwin Poston of Amherstdale and the late Arlie Eugene Poston.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jean Spears; and one brother, William Allen Poston.
Gene was a retired Shipping and Receiving Supervisor who was employed in the automotive industry for over 25 years. Prior to beginning his career, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Viet Nam War attaining the rank of Sgt. An avid sports enthusiast, Gene enjoyed playing soft ball and golf and coaching girls’ basketball for many years. Devoted to his family and grandchildren, Gene made them his number one priority. He had a gift for making people laugh and was always there for everyone with a helping hand.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Inis Goodwin Poston of Amherstdale; one daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Padyiasek of Warren, MI; four grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Padyiasek of Warren, MI, and Tiffany Ellis, Jordan Ellis, and Alyssa Ellis, all of Bruno; his fiancé, Roberta “Rocky” Fernandez of Amherstdale; one sister, Patricia (Tom) Belcher of Bolt; one brother, Charles Kelly (Kay) Poston of Amherstdale; a sister-in-law, Diania Poston of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Denver McClellan officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 at Harts.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Mark Poston, Chuck Poston, Tommy Belcher, Jeff Belcher, George Ellis, Jason Padyiasek, and Anthony Padyiasek.
Honorary pall bearers will be Kelly Poston, Tom Belcher, Larry Samson, and Gary Jude.
